Chapter 7 Project Workspace
Project workspaces let you view and manage related files from different directories in one project. They do not move, copy, or modify source files. AIClue only creates a group of file references.
7.1 What Is a Project Workspace
Often, materials for one project are not stored in the same folder. For example, contracts may be in Documents, images on Desktop, spreadsheets in Downloads, and meeting notes in another folder.
A project workspace brings these files into one project for unified viewing later.
Project workspaces are useful when:
- Materials for one client or case are scattered across multiple directories
- An event or topic includes documents, spreadsheets, images, and other file types
- You want to temporarily collect a group of related files without moving source files
- You often need to open the same group of files
7.2 Enter Project Workspace
Click Project Workspace in the left sidebar to open the project management page.
The page shows currently available project cards. Each project card usually displays:
- Project name
- Number of files in the project
- Recent use time
- Entries for adding files, batch opening, and more operations
If the current account or trial state does not support the feature, the page shows a corresponding prompt.
7.3 Create a Project Workspace
To create a project workspace:
- Click New Workspace
- Enter a project workspace name
- Confirm
After creation, the project appears in the project workspace list. The project name cannot be empty and cannot duplicate another active project name.
7.4 Add Files
After a project is created, you can add files to it.
Common methods include:
| Method | Description |
|---|---|
| Add from project card | Click the add file button on the project card, then choose one or more files |
| Add from project page | Open the project, then use the add file entry in the top bar |
| Add from file context menu | Right-click a file and choose Add to workspace… or Create workspace and add… |
| Drag to add | Drag files into AIClue and choose the project workspace to add them to |
| Drag and create project | When dragging files in, choose to create a new project workspace and enter a project name |
Adding files only creates project associations. It does not move or copy files.
7.5 Open a Project
Click a project card to open the file list for that project. After opening, the Workbench shows files in the project.
In the project file list, you can:
- View files included in the project
- Further narrow the scope with tag or directory filters
- Click a file to preview it
- Double-click a file to open it with the system default app
- Use the add file entry to keep adding files to the project
- Right-click a file to add it to another workspace or remove it from the current workspace
Note: After a project is opened, the search box shows a project-name scope marker. The current version mainly uses this to enter the project file list. If you continue typing regular keywords, AIClue returns to the normal search flow.
7.6 Batch Open Files
Project cards provide a batch open entry, letting you open files in the project with the system default apps at once.
If the project contains many files, AIClue shows a confirmation prompt first to avoid opening too many files at once and affecting computer usage.
Batch opening is useful when:
- You open the same group of work files every day
- You need to open project materials quickly before a meeting
- You want to check multiple related files at the same time
7.7 Rename a Project
If a project name needs adjustment, choose Rename from the project card’s more operations.
Renaming only changes the project name in AIClue. It does not change file names or file locations.
7.8 Dissolve and Restore Projects
If you no longer need a project, choose Dissolve from the project card’s more operations.
Dissolving a project only clears the project associations in AIClue. It does not delete source files. A confirmation prompt appears before dissolving.
Dissolved projects can be viewed in Workspace History and restored when needed. After restoration, the project appears in the project workspace list again.
7.9 Usage Tips
- Use clear business names for projects, such as
2026 Contract Archive,Client Materials, orThesis References. - If you only need to temporarily view files under one directory, use directory filtering first. If files come from multiple directories, use a project workspace.
- Project workspaces are suitable for managing “sets of related files”. They are not a replacement for system folders.
- Before dissolving a project, confirm that you no longer need this set of associations. Source files are not deleted, but the workspace is removed from the project list.
