Search Word and PDF content
Search the text inside Word and PDF files without opening each one.
When material is spread across several Word and PDF files, add the relevant folders to AIClue and use Content or Smart Search for the words you remember.
Three conditions for cross-document search
- 01 File scope Material folders you explicitly add
- 02 Searchable text Successfully read Word, PDF, and other content
- 03 Evidence Matching snippets, locations, and available previews
File records and readable text differ
A file in the list does not guarantee searchable content.
AIClue can currently try to read content from common types including DOC, DOCX, and PDF. A match still depends on successful processing and on the file containing readable text.
- DOC, DOCX, and PDF are among the current common content-reading types
- Keyword results can show a matching text snippet to identify the document
- Directory and file-type filters can narrow a search across documents
Practical workflow
Turn a set of documents into one search scope.
Choose the material folders first and allow background content processing to finish. Start with a specific phrase, then narrow by directory or type when necessary.
- Step 01
Add the folders that contain the documents
Choose contract, report, or project folders. Adding them does not move or modify the Word and PDF source files.
- Step 02
Allow content processing to finish
After a large folder is added, filename results usually appear first. Content results become more complete after background processing.
- Step 03
Search a phrase and inspect the context
Use Content or Smart Search, then confirm with snippets, locations, file-type filters, and available previews.
Boundaries of Word and PDF content search
Usually suitable
- DOC, DOCX, and PDF files whose text can be read successfully
- Related material spread across several added folders
- Documents containing a distinct term, sentence, or reference number
Content may be unavailable or incomplete
- Scanned PDFs made mainly of images or without a text layer
- Encrypted, password-protected, damaged, or mismatched file formats
- Oversized, occupied, or still-processing files
